She was the first woman to receive the Pulitzer Prize for Literature in 1921. Wharton also was familiar with many famous people of the time, including President Theodore Roosevelt «In Morocco» is a travelogue about Edith’s journey to Morocco in the final days of the World War I. It colorfully describes her month-long path through the cities and deserts of the country, and all the places she visited — ruins, mosques, palaces, markets, and harems.
